qei Transmitters
QEI QUANTUM "E" Series advanced technology FM broadcast transmission systems for superior on-air performance. The QUANTUM 1000E establishes a new level in FM performance with the advantage of the highest power emergency back-up available in an exciter style package. QEI took the field-proven design of its exciters and merged them with a high power FET amplifier to deliver un-compromised performance as a transmitter or booster. The QUANTUM 1000E is an all solid state, broadband, frequency synthesized, "on carrier" direct FM, phase locked, transmission system, designed to exceed the FCC requirements for use in the FM broadcast band. The QUANTUM 1000E may be programmed to operate on any 100 kHz increment (10 kHz optional) in the FM band. Direct FM "on carrier" operation insures spurious free transmission and extremely low distortion, crosstalk, noise, and no stereo degradation. The frequency modulated oscillator (FMO) has superior linearity and does not require any "pre-distortion" networks to achieve high performance specifications. The FMO is sealed in a specially designed high Mu enclosure to shield it from stray magnetic fields and is acoustically dampened to eliminate microphonics. Sound for sound the QUANTUM "E" will match other FM exciter/transmitters costing twice as much or more. The Power Amplifier (PA) of the QUANTUM 1000E is unconditionally stable and will withstand any magnitude or phase of VSWR indefinitely without damage by automatically reducing power. The conservatively designed power amplifier can be varied from a few Watts to full output without any oscillation or "break up". The QUANTUM 1000E is comprised of exciter, amplifier and power supply and takes only 17-1/2" of rack space. The QUANTUM 1000E series when used as an replacement for the exciter and driver make a perfect upgrade for older systems. Complete metering of critical parameters is available at the push of a button. All operational indicators are LED's to eliminate all routine lamp replacement. RF and audio connections are made by way of back panel connectors. A BNC for composite audio and barrier strip for monaural audio are provided on each system. The QUANTUM 1000E uses a 7/8" (1-5/8"optional) EIA flanged connector for RF output and a female Type "N" connector for RF input from the exciter.
QEI QUANTUM "E" Series advanced technology FM broadcast transmission systems for superior on-air performance. The QUANTUM "E" establishes a new level in FM performance with the advantage of the highest power emergency back-up available in an exciter style package. QEI took the field-proven design of the model 695 exciter and incorporated a high power FET amplifier to deliver un-compromised performance as a transmitter, exciter, booster or translator**. The QUANTUM "E" is an all solid state, broadband, frequency synthesized, "on carrier" direct FM, phase locked, transmission system, designed to exceed the FCC requirements for use in the FM broadcast band. The QUANTUM 150E, 300E & 600E are housed in a rack space saving dual 5-1/4" package. The QUANTUM "E" series when used as an exciter or replacement for the exciter and driver will fit into virtually all transmitters in use and is the perfect upgrade for older systems. Complete metering of critical parameters is available at the push of a button. All operational indicators are LED's to eliminate all routine lamp replacement. RF and audio connections are made by way of back panel connectors. A BNC for composite audio and barrier strip for monaural audio are provided on each system. The QUANTUM "E" series between 150 Watts and 600 Watts utilizes a type "N" female output connector. Reliability and simplicity of design and operation make the QUANTUM "E" FM broadcast transmission system an outstanding choice for every FM station.
QUANTUM M-Series SOLID-STATE FM BROADCAST TRANSMITTERS
By using modern CAD/CAM techniques and computer assisted manufacturing, QEI has reduced the size of the transmitter to less then 5 feet tall! Yet even in this small package, the QUANTUM M-Series houses the exciter/driver, FET power amplifier modules, output combiner, power supplies and harmonic filter/directional coupler assemblies in one unit. QEI engineers designed the QUANTUM M-Seriesto deliver
what broadcasters need... The QUANTUM M M - exciter was specifically designed with the needs of a high power solid state transmitter. No other transmitter manufacturer has taken such care in the development of the entire transmitter/exciter package. QEI developed the first truly linear frequency modulated oscillator (FMO) over 20 years ago with our best selling Model 675 exciter. The QUANTUM M continues the tradition with our new Super-Linear FMO. This new advance in FMO technology is the secret to the QUANTUM M-Series transmitter's outstanding broadcast audio performance.
QEI pioneered single phase high power transmitter design and continues to dominate the industry by manufacturing the QUANTUM M-Series with a single phase power supply. QEI's QUANTUM M-Seriesof Solid-State FM Broadcast Transmitters are designed and manufactured with pride in the U.S.A.

QEI FM Transmitters, are the very best.
The FMQ-20000B and FMQ-30000B share a unique design that offers unequaled performance at any price. Conservatively designed for years of trouble free service QEI FM Transmitters provide a superb broadcast signal. The FMQ-20000B and FMQ-30000B utilize an inherently broadband design that is totally transparent. The Intermediate Power Amplifier (IPA) design draws on decades of QEI experience in solid state FM transmitters. The IPA is joined to a single grounded grid triode for outstanding performance and stability. These elements have evolved into a transmitter unmatched for its quality and reliability. QEI engineers designed the FMQ-20000B and FMQ-30000B to deliver what broadcasters need, RELIABILITY. Every step of the way QEI selected only the highest quality components. You can feel it in the smooth and precise control of the tuning and see it in the massive plate transformer. The FMQ series of transmitters, precision crafted to be the very best. The all solid state modular IPA delivers plenty of drive to the final tube, allowing generous headroom to ensure the output power remains precisely at its pre-set level. |
The FMQ-20000B and FMQ-30000B power amplifiers use a single triode in grounded grid service. The grounded grid triode design offers inherently greater stability, better performance and is less critical in operation than its tetrode counterparts since it requires no neutralization or additional energy consuming power supplies. QEI perfected this design by eliminating the need for conventional plate blockers and sliding contacts.
QEI pioneered single phase high power design and continues to dominate the industry by offering the option of single and three phase power on all FMQ-series transmitters.
Logically grouped metering and controls were clearly identified for the operator's convenience and a single panel shows total transmitter status at a glance. The remote control interface is easily connected to virtually all remote controls. With every FMQ-series transmitter a comprehensive spare parts kit is included at no charge. QEI FM transmitters are designed and manufactured with pride in the USA.
